Finals Are Over

Sorry for a lack of promised semi weekly content. The summer is here, and I will now have more time to read and write. Also, I will be taking First-Year Greek (which should provide more than one interesting story), so stay tuned for more posts! 
 
I also recommend that all die-hard Trekkies see the new movie. It's not as bad as you think it will be. I hope to post a classically-themed review tomorrow.

Vergil's Cranes

“Pendent opera interrupta minaeque murorum ingentes aequataque machina caelo”
 
     Literally translated, this means “the interrupted works, large threatening walls, and level (unused) machines hang in the sky.” It is how Vergil describes the African city of Carthage (recently founded and, for lack of a better term, under construction) during Queen Dido’s passionate and scandalous affair with Aeneas.
